International Mindedness means respecting people of different nationalities and cultures. It means caring for others in the world, not just our family and friends. It means looking at things from a different perspective, from their perspective. It means working with others enthusiastically, passionately, and efficiently.

I agree, Vinay. Seeing life from other people’s perspective is such a powerful force, even when we don’t agree or have the same beliefs. At least we can understand and empathize with them. I am wondering about the use of the word “efficiently” at the end of your sentence- I would love to hear you explain why you chose it and what you mean.

I think it is about appreciating other religions and cultures. It’s about walking a mile in their shoes which means thinking about their feelings/perspective. You should be open about making friends from other places.

If I stay in korean school for like whole life in staying korea will boring to learn but when I came to India My whole life changed because I was trying new thing and I got interesting on doing something

I learned that people from other countries have a different way of thinking. UN day is a very good thing because you can learn the culture of different country and you can have fun!

Even though I have to wear weird clothes (To be honest I don’t like the weird clothes thing) on UN day, I think that UN Day is an amazing day to know all of the countries in the school and unit!

If I compare to Korea school and AISC, there are many different, like in AISC there are various people from the different country, but in Korea school there are only Korean.

I think international mindedness is about accepting everybody’s religion and culture instead of saying “Yew! The food is disgusting in this country blah, blah blah”. It’s about thinking in their perspective and trying to understand the way they live.

I’ve tried japanese food like sushi and korean food like kimbab. I’ve tried to understand another person’s culture by trying to be with them going to their houses to get the feeling.

To me it means that to have an international mind, means that you are able to respect the other’s culture. I think it is really important to be international minded because after if you disrespect anyone different than you, that person will spread the rumor and good luck after…

I think that UN peace day is a good way to see other people nation. We can also taste the food and see the different culture of each countries. It is a good way to know how to respect other people culture causes during UN day, you can see a little bit of the believes and and the behavior of each nations to respect the people around us.
I think that it is important to respect other nationalities of each person to not hurt them in the heart.

I thought I was open minded and be friendly and can be friend s easily with people but when I came here and saw different people from different country, I was not open minded and can’t be friendly with people! So I knew much more about me..

And to think that many years back,certain countries fought with each others and had certain allies.Did you know that India and Japan were allies in World War II.Today, Japan and India are also friends .India’s Prime minister Narendra Modi and Japan’s Prime Minister Shinzo Abe have continued the alliance.Today there are many who are against peace.AISC is the second International school I have been to.I like international schools better than local schools because then I can make friends from different countries.I find UN day very exciting because I express my culture.

All people have their own culture, and we can learn from them. It’s very different than Korean school because the education is very different and we are aloud to speak in Korean.

International Mindedness means bonding with different nationality people and appreciating them. It’s actually a really important aspect of life. Learning about different cultures, beliefs, customs and how people are is all about. Being able to look at other nationalities in a good perspective is a great way to not discriminate against others. Before coming to AISC, I didn’t even know what UN Day was; I didn’t know that it even existed. And I really appreciate that we have such a beautiful way to celebrate “us”. This day reminds of all the disgreements that I had seen with other people who were a different nationality when we should really being grateful that we are able to get to know people who are different and unique. How we can learn and enjoy with other people.

International mindedness means to appreciate people from other countries who have a different culture, to talk to everyone without leaving or being mean to people just because of their culture. By being in an international school and having opportunities to talk with people from different countries, I have changed my thinking from before. At first I was closed to people from different countries because I couldn’t really get used to talking and learning and sharing with other people except Japanese. After a few weeks, I realized that even though the culture is different, everyone is really nice to everyone:)

I think I changed my personality. Before I think was like “This is RIGHT” but now I am able to accept other peoples thoughts. I learned that there can be lots of ways of thinking and the perspective changes by different culture.

I learned that there many people in our school with different cultures. That we should respect their way of life since you might come from one part of the world and the others from the other side. Here in AISC we all our from one place AISC.

In AISC, there are many cultures, such as kimonos in Japan, Saris in India, and shirts in America. Also, we speak many languages, like Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Korean, Japanese, Spanish, English,etc. I am excited about UN Day because we get to show off our culture and we get to know more about other cultures. Finally, we get to have prizes and stuff. YAY!

I think the U.N.D is a really special day that we don’t have in France for example. I think it is a unique day that we should never take away or miss it. The only problem is that we can not do it in French school or other school sometimes because there is only one kind of nation and we all do the same things. We have the same culture and the same way of clothing, of eating……

I think U.N. day is fun and your happy to show what your country eats and plays and things like that.
And also, you learn about other countries and you don’t need to go to the country to know what they eat or play, you just go to the stand and learn about it.

I think a way to define international mindedness is when a person respects others cultures. They know that no one would like it if someone insults their culture by saying something. I have been at 3 international schools now and I have learnt that everyone can have different cultures and it is very important to respect everyones personality and who they are. I think UN day is when you understand the importance of your own and everybody else’s identity. Everyone can have different perspective’s and sometimes everyone might not agree so we respect everyone’s point of view.

I’m really excited about tomorrow UN Day because we can learn more about the culture, people and their custom from children of different countries.
