Include the title and author, the genre (fantasy, realistic fiction, mystery, science fiction, etc.) and, of course, why you think it’s the best book.  Sentence starter:
My favorite book I have read this year is ______________ (title) by ______________ (author).  I love (or loved) this book because ……. (tell us why your book was so great). No SPOILERS, please.
Thanks, and we look forward to reading your comments.  All students are expected to share a book they have read.  It’s great when you can share AWESOME books with your classmates and teachers.

The book is descriptive in the way that the author describes the places and characters. It really makes you fell like your in a graveyard.

I have 2 favorite books that I have read this year: Escape Under the Forever Sky by Eve Yohalem and Bella at Midnight by Diane Stanley. I like Escape Under the Forever Sky because it is about trying to survive with only your knowledge. This book is about the daughter of the American ambassador of Kenya. She dreams of visiting the wild, but she always has lots of strict supervision and suspension. One day, when she visits her friend’s house, she gets kidnapped and she escapes into the jungle from the hut she is held hostage in. The rest of the book is about how she survives in the wild while trying to reach civilization and hide from her kidnappers. This book has gotten me interested into the survival genre. I like Bella at Midnight because there are 3 parts; the first two are separate stories and in the 3rd part, the stories join together. I think it’s cool that each chapter is being told in a different perspective by different people.

Thanks, Advika for sharing your favorite books of the years, so far. I remember looking at “Escape Under the Forever Sky” book when you were reading it. I also love books that deal with survival. I loved “Hatchet” by Gary Paulsen. You should read some books by this author, if you like those types of books. I am sure Mr. Jet and his libarians can help you find some other novels. I lived in Kenya after graduating from college, so this book sounds interesting to me. I think I will read it. You did a good job of describing and ‘selling’ both books without giving away too much information. I am hooked!

My favorite book I have read this year is Twelve by Lauren Myracle.
And it is a realistic fiction book. I like this book because it’s about a girl named Winnie. And she is turning twelve. She goes through changes that she doesn’t really like. Example: Winnie comes into junior high and she is one year younger then every one else and the other girls don’t really like her because she is younger then they are. But still she manages everything with one solution. And for me that is interesting how she manages every problem. And also I learned that getting twelve changes a lot in your live.

My favorite book is ‘The Forgotten Warrior’ by Erin Hunter. The title doesn’t give away but connects to the book a lot because a forgotten warrior returns. I have read the whole series of ‘Warriors’, and I think one reason I like it a lot is the adventure in Erin Hunter’s books. You could say it is a fantasy book, but it isn’t like total fantasy with magic wands and fairies either. The reason it is my favorite is because not only there is a lot going on in this book, but there is a sudden change in this book, and it ends with a bang of action. If you like cats, and are an adventure fan, this is a book you will like. If you do read this book, I recommend that you start with the first series book-Into the Wild-otherwise you would not understand what is going on. Good Luck!

Thanks, Ayumu. The fact that this stuck to your heart is great. That’s what we want with a book, one that is tough to put down. Martin Luther King Jr. was an amazing man! There are other books and documentaries (movies) about him. Take a look in the library.

My favorite book I have read this year is The Same Stuff as Stars by Katherine Paterson. I love this book because it is a very interesting topic. It is about an 11 year old girl called Angel whose family is drifting apart. Her dad Wayne is in Jail, her step-mom Verna is depressed and gets stressed very easily and her 7 year old brother Bernie is no help either. Angel is like the mother in her family. After Angel visits her Dad, Verna suddenly decides to move away. They go live at their great grandmothers house. Bernie just causes trouble and her great grandma isn’t better either. Angel is having a very hard time with everyone depending on her and expecting her to be the responsible one. I really like the way the author wrote it, it has very nice language. The english isn’t too hard but it’s also not super easy. It is a great book which I enjoy reading a lot.

My favorite book I have read this year is called Number the Stars by Lois Lowry. I loved this book and I want to share with others because it is a historical fiction about a girl Annemarie and her best friend named Ellen. Ellen suffers from Nazis because she is Jewish. She solves all the obstacles to escape from Nazis. The author described what happened while escaping very well so that readers could imagine the pictures in their mind. Author, Lois Lowry used good word choices and made me feel the same way with the characters. Also, I like the way how she solves her obstacles and how Annemarie helps Ellen to escape from Nazis. Therefore, I highly recommend this book (Number the Stars) to you guys.

My favorite book in 6th grade is “Green Jasper” by K.M Grant. Because this book is really good historical fiction and also gives good settings that make me draw the picture in my head really in detail. The story even made me focus in what I am reading. Also I can clearly see the character traits of almost every single character in the book.

The best book I’ve read in sixth grade is the one I’ currently reading. The Hunger Gams by Suzanne Collins, a New York Bestselling author. This is the first book of the Hunger Games trilogy. One reason I read this book, is because the second movie is coming out. This book is good because when you write futuristic books, you have to be creative. Suzanne Collins deserves a movie of her book.

Honestly, I think that no other book can match up to this one. My favorite book of all time is ‘The Fourth Protocol’ by Fredrick Forsyth. It’s about a top secret plan called Plan Aurora, which is taking place in the forest right outside Moscow, Russia, which breaches the a file called The Fourth Protocol. This file is top secret, and is handled by what used to be the Soviet Union. The breaching of this spreads fear into everyone, causing the world to be a living nightmare. A Soviet agent, who is put undercover in an English town, begins to crack all the firewalls and hacks into the secret database of the British. John Preston, an M15 investigator is working against the soviets, is leading an operation to prevent Britain turning into a revolution. Will he fail or succeed? Read the book to find out!

My favorite series is warriors by Erin Hunter. I love it because there are so many different small stories. It also gets kind of confusing because there a like a billion cats to remember, but I think it’s fun to remember. If you want to read the series you should start with the first book Into The Wild. There are many different series of warriors in each series there are different main characters. I like it because there are also new villains in each series. This book is fantasy. The only thing that keeps me going is to find out about firepaw and tigerclaw.
